Ok, now that I've had MUCH sleep, I can go into some details on the con...just random things that jump out at me.

Thursday - Setup. Got to the hotel, realized I'd left some things at home, so came back later to get them. Saw Dealer's room setup (Which made the DR Head realize he'd gotten some things wrong, so he had to re-layout his sheet of where to put dealers), hung out in Consuite with the folks setting that up. Eventually, our Artist Guest came down, and I got to schmooze with him and his wife. There was much schmoozing over the weekend, and they said later that they'd had a great time. Later, after some mis-communications, our Author was picked up from the airport. Around this time, we were finding out that our Media Guest really couldn't make it...after many attempts, and thoughts on what to do, who could we get to fill the spot, and was it worth it to get someone else in, with no advance advertising, we opted to just call it a loss. I really didn't like doing that, but was told by several I respect that I really was making the best choice. The Thursday dinner was Olive Garden, which I ate some of...been an awful long time. There was schmoozing amongst the con-staff...really, Thursday tends to be OUR only time to get to see the GOHs, as we are working the con..eventually, we split apart in order to go to sleep, for the chaos that the weekend would be.

Friday - Woke up, went to grab Chick-Fil-A for Breakfast, and checked in with the Departments. Don't remember a whole lot more of the early hours, but went to the Dealer's Room, set Aaron up with a Table outside the dealer's room, so he could sell some of his books, and display the T-Shirts he has done, that Offworld Designs were selling. Bought Munchkin Dice from Castle Perilous, and got to see the VERY FIRST Incon T-Shirt (Amber Fox had it...wow), and talked to a few of the other dealer's. Had the Dealer's Room head call me in, at one point, so we could talk to a few of the dealer's who had some bootleg merchandise, but they were ok with pulling those items. Was starting to freak a little, as Tom hadn't shown up yet, or at least I hadn't found him...heard that he had updated his LJ to say that he had left, so wasn't panicking yet...but was concerned, as we'd already had one thing happen with a guest, and I figured I was due for 2 more..:-) Fortunately, just before opening ceremonies, I checked at Registration, and they said he'd gotten his badge. I went to OC, and yes, he was there. Spoke to him for several minutes, and OC started.

I was called up, fairly quickly, and welcomed people..was presented with a framed copy of the cover for our program book, which had been signed by all the guests (Minus Eugene, of course), and was awed. Mentioned that the convention is put on by volunteers, and went into a speech about unsung heroes, and that the whole staff falls into that. None of us do this for a living, and that fact gets overlooked often...wished that Kathie had been there, because I really wanted to have her stand and get some of the applause for her COUNTLESS hours of hard work, and kicking me in the ass when needed. Anyways, after the guests were intro'd (and a VERY fun song from Tom, in response to the song that Rob and Steve G had sung for him...), I got up to introduce the play.

The play was a bit of chaos this year. There were no times for rehearsals, the read through was early on Friday, and none of the cast had been able to be there...we'd pulled Aaron to play a role, and a few of the Magichouse Guys were involved too, and I came in last minute to do the final pickup role. I warned the audience that this was part improvisation, and that there were scripts on stage...and that we were performing the play that Starbase Indy had done...and that if this worked, we'd have to rethink some of what we did for plays in the future, and if not, well, we knew that such a concept wouldn't work again. We DID have many of the actors from SB reprise their roles, and that worked well..there were many laughs, some improvisation, and I got the comment from Don Dailey (Member of First Fandom, and one of the people responsible for there being a con), and he told me that I'd created a first...the first time there was a Summer Rerun for an Incon Play. :-P More fun, chaos, hanging out with Sa, and general con chaos...some of it is blurry, so please forgive if I am forgetting details. Ah, yeah...Sa made sure I got real food, which I'd been forgetting...Cheesecake Factory, which was pretty good.

Saturday: Woke up early, because I was to greet the Blood Drive people...got that done, and resolved to come back and donate later. For some reason, I felt it a good idea to lead by example...found Confusedjew, and walked the Dealer's room with her and Sa...Got Tom setup with a table so he could sell some CDs (And he gave me a copy of his latest, 24 Hour Comics Day 2 - Last Hero on Earth. More panels, more checking in on people (including some cool stuff in the Art Show), more Dealer's Room...Donated blood at Noon, and was told the strap would need to be on my arm for 4-6 hours...another friend showed, and Sa's Husband...Husband went to gaming, Friend just got to hang out with Sa, and somehow I lost them both...but, caught up with them later, in teh Consuite, at about 2 or 3....I'd been browbeat to make sure i went and got food, and got it from the Food Court at the adjoining mall...

And that's it for this update...I've been writing it a while, while working on some other stuff, and will continue it in a "Part 2". :-)
